What would you do with $33 million a day?

“After carefully considering all the material presented to us, we conclude that AUKUS is the worst, most costly and riskiest defence decision ever made by Australian governments, and without adequate public scrutiny.” – The AUKUS Public Inquiry

The US controls military bases in Australia and the Australian people have little say about them. AUKUS is accelerating this. It’s not just about submarines; this agreement erodes our national sovereignty and security.

The government refused, so private citizens had to hold an AUKUS inquiry. Over a thousand people and organisations made submissions. The report is damning.

  • No plan for nuclear waste, except that Australia will be responsible for it
  • Signed outside normal parliamentary and defence acquisition processes, with automatic continuation and no further scrutiny since, despite the astronomical cost and risks
  • No national security strategy that would explain why this is the correct approach to strengthen Australian security
  • Risk of our own best national interest being overridden by the interests of our allies
  • No guarantee that we will get what we’re paying for – but we have to pay for it regardless

This government promised us greater accountability and transparency. Instead we’re getting less. And it costs us – cuts to services and support for ordinary Australians while they give the US and UK $33 million per day for the next 30 years.

We demand a proper public process for this massive spend. Does it make us safer - or make us a nuclear target?

Sign the petition now to demand we pause AUKUS.

To the Australian Parliament:

Australians reject secrecy over the largest-ever defence project. While ordinary Australians are in a cost of living crisis, the Government is cutting back on services while spending record amounts on AUKUS – in a contract that has never had public scrutiny.

We call on the Australian Government to pause AUKUS while conducting a full Royal Commission to examine: does AUKUS make Australia safer? At this price, is this the best option for our security?
